Do you dream of spending countless days skiing in fresh powder – with alpine summits as a bonus?

By choosing Sogndal, you choose a school perfectly located for ski touring in winter. When the snow arrives, the mountains around Sogndal turn into a true ski paradise. Just a short drive from the school, you can find untouched powder. The mountains here are known for their reliable snow, and you’ll get to know one of Norway’s best regions for backcountry skiing. High alpine areas such as Hurrungane, Jostedalen, and Breheimen are also close by.

Throughout the winter, ski touring and backcountry trips are the main focus. You’ll learn safe mountain travel through training in snow profiles, avalanche awareness, trip planning, and navigation. Our avalanche course teaches you how to use equipment such as transceiver, probe, and shovel, as well as how to assess snow conditions and read the weather to avoid dangerous situations.

Welcome to a true winter paradise – perfect if you dream of everyday life filled with ski tours and endless powder!

Sogndal is also a climbing paradise – indoors and out! Spring brings alpine peaks where we use crampons and ice axes, and the local crags offer endless possibilities, like Kvam with more than 500 routes. At Sognahallen you’ll find one of Norway’s best climbing walls and a brand-new bouldering gym – the perfect place to develop your skills before heading outside to climb sunlit rock faces.

Between towering mountains and the deep Sognefjord, everything is set for a year filled with experiences, personal growth, and lifelong friendships. At our school, learning goes beyond the classroom—it becomes a home. And this home is filled with people, just like you, who are ready to create unforgettable memories.

Here, the classroom isn’t confined by four walls—it extends to the entire landscape around us! From steep mountain peaks to deep fjords, the opportunities are endless. You’ll learn by experiencing, exploring, and actively participating in everything we do together.

Throughout the year, you’ll enjoy warm evenings by the fjord and crisp winter days surrounded by powder snow. You’ll feel the contrasts, the freedom, and the pure joy of being present in the moment. No matter which program you choose, we offer a daily life where you can embrace everything Sogndal has to offer—both in nature and together with your fellow students.

We are committed to making this a year that truly matters.
