Do you like both music and video games? Do you want to collaborate with other creative people? Welcome to Norway's first and only game music line. You'll learn everything you need to make game music.
We focus on the entire musical process, from idea to integration into the game engine. In the beginning, we learn the basics of music production, music theory and adaptive music. With this knowledge we work with 8-bit music, instrumentation orchestral music, world music and ambient. You will be challenged to experiment and think outside the box. You will also leave the year with your own portfolio.
You will work with:
- Composition of music in various genres: 8-bit, orchestral, ambient, world music, etc.
- Music production, mixing & mastering
- Adaptive music
- Playing music with others
- Recording
- Music theory
- Foley & sound design
You will learn about location scoring, character scoring, stingers, and many other techniques to create a more exciting and engaging gameplay. You will also work with foley, sound design. In addition you will have the pleasure of playing together with other creative and musical people and record in the school's studio.
As a student at Game Music, you will receive a permanent license to the music program Ableton Live 12 (suite version). You will also work with FMOD (middleware for integration into the game engine).
You don't need to know music theory in order to apply.
Game Music is part of a bigger musical community. You will have common subjects such as music theory and studio with students from Music: live & studio. You will also collaborate with students from Game Design and Game Art by making music and sound fx for games made at our school.
